Canes Head to Tallahassee to Face No. 15 Florida State

Oct. 22, 2011

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – After winning several national player of the week awards, Kate Howarth and the University of Miami women’s soccer team will try to maintain their momentum when facing No. 15 Florida State Sunday at 1 p.m.

The Canes (9-5-1, 3-4-1 ACC) have won two-straight over teams ranked in the Top 10 and could use another solid performance against a Florida State squad that is 10-6-0 overall and 3-5-0 inside conference play – just a half-game behind UM in the standings.

Howarth recorded a pair of goals in Miami’s last win over 10th-ranked Maryland and a pair of assists over No. 4 Boston College. The Grand Blanc, Mich. native leads the Canes with nine goals and six assists in her junior season.

The Seminoles are led offensively by Tiffany McCarty, who has 12 goals on the year. Four other Florida State players have at least three goal, with Tori Huster netting four.
