Former Hurricane Advances at US Championships

EUGENE, Ore. – Lauryn Williams advanced to the 200m dash semifinal Saturday at the USA Outdoor Track and Field Championships held at the University of Oregon’s Hayward Field.

Williams ran to a 22.97-second finish in the preliminary round and will run Sunday at 3:25 p.m. EST in the semifinal round. If she advances to the final, it is scheduled for 5:52 p.m. EST.

Ti’erra Brown and Takecia Jameson ended their championship with fifth and eighth place finishes in the 400m hurdles respectively. Brown crossed the finish line in 55.93 seconds while Jameson ran a time of 58.75.

Devon Hill, who just finished his junior season with the Canes, ran a 13.74 second time in the 110m hurdle semifinals. However, he was unable to advance to Sunday’s final.

Rising sophomore Luke Fontaine wrapped up the U.S. Junior National Championships with a 4:01.20 finish in the 1,500m run.

Universal and NBC will combine to televise Sunday’s action. Universal will air events from 3-4 p.m. EST, while NBC will provide coverage from 5-6 p.m. EST.
