Brown Named ACC Women's Outdoor Track Performer of the Year

GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Miami All-American Ti’erra Brown has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Outdoor Track Performer of the Year, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.
Brown is the second Hurricane to earn the prestigious honor, joining former teammate Kristy Whyte, who earned the honor in 2008.
“This is a great honor for Ti’erra,” said Director of Track and Field Amy Deem. “The ACC has many tremendous athletes, and for her to receive this award says a lot about her performance this outdoor season.”
The senior from Hampton, Va., recently earned All-America honors in both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles at the NCAA National Championships, winning the national title in the 400-meter hurdles in 55.642 seconds. With the win, she became the sixth woman in Miami program history to win an NCAA outdoor national title.
The accolades were the sixth and seventh career All-America honors for the decorated senior, ranking her sixth in program history. Fifteen-time All-American Dominique Darden claims the Miami record.
Brown also clocked in at 12.94 seconds to win the 100-meter hurdles at the ACC Championships in April, giving the Hurricanes their first title in the event. She earned All-ACC honors in the event for the second time, previously finishing third in 2010.
Brown also claimed All-ACC honors in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing second in 57.58 seconds.
The ACC also announced Dorotea Habazin (Virginia Tech) as Women’s Outdoor Field Performer of the Year, Samira Burkhardt (Virginia Tech) as Women’s Outdoor Track & Field Freshman of the Year and Lawrence Johnson (Clemson) as Women’s Track & Field Coach of the Year.
