BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Senior hurdlers Takecia Jameson and Ti’erra Brown are moving on to the NCAA National Championships after impressive quarterfinal performances in the 400m hurdles at the second day  of competition at the NCAA East Preliminary Round at the Robert C. Haugh Track and Field Complex on Friday.

Jameson – who has impressed the Miami coaching staff in recent weeks –  ran her season-best time in the event at 56.54 seconds, winning the first of three quarterfinal heats. Brown, UM’s five-time All-America selection circled the track in 56.67 seconds.

“Takecia has gained a lot of confidence this weekend,” said Director of Track and Field Amy Deem. “She hasn’t run 56 seconds since her freshman year and I look for her to keep improving in Des Moines.”

The duo guaranteed themselves a spot in the NCAA Championships in Des Moines, Iowa on the campus of Drake University, June 8-11.

“Ti’erra set up her race perfectly,” added Deem. “I look for her to be back at her personal best of 54.74 as she heads into the NCAA finals and USA Championships.”

Brown and Jameson also advanced to Saturday’s 7:05 p.m. quarterfinal in the 100m hurdles after their performances in the qualifying heats on Friday. Brown advanced with a time of 13.57 seconds, while Jameson crossed the finish line in 13.62 seconds.

Junior Devon Hill advanced as well in his event, the 110m hurdles. In the sixth and final qualifying heat, the junior placed second in a time of 13.87 seconds. The Trenton, N.J. native will race again tomorrow in the quarterfinals at 7:20 p.m.

“We ran solid races in the 100 and 110m hurdles tonight,” concluded Deem. “Ti’erra, Takecia and Devon have run well all season and I expect them to do the same tomorrow and advance to the finals in Des Moines.”
