CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The University of Miami Track and Field team, led by hurdlers Ti’erra Brown and Devon Hill, competed in the Dick Taylor Tar Heels Relay at Belk Track at Fetzer Field on Saturday.

Both Brown and Hill won their individual races, with Brown winning both the 100 (12.96) and 400m hurdles (56.25). Hill won the 110m hurdles with a time of 13.71 seconds – the junior’s second best time of the year.

Brown’s 400m hurdle performance was her best effort of the season and the nation’s No. 3 collegiate time of 2011.

“We had good performances in the hurdles tonight,” said Director of Track and Field Amy Deem. “Devon and Ti’erra followed up their ACC championships by sweeping the high hurdles again. Ti’erra also had a season-best time in winning the 400m hurdles which sets her up well going into the NCAA Championships at the end May.”

Takecia Jameson competed with Brown in both the hurdle events, posting times of 13.66 and 58.70 seconds. Freshman Thandi Stewart ran the second-fastest time of her season in the 400m hurdles at 58.00 seconds.

Bassim El-Sabawi, Hill, Brandon McGee and Lamar Miller ran the best 4×100 relay’s best time of the season at 40.56 seconds – just .27 seconds away from cracking the school’s Top 5 list.

“I was pleased with the men’s 4×100 relay as well,” added Deem. “We are getting better every time we run.”

Miranda Wilson competed in the discus where she claimed the top collegiate mark with a career-best throw of 47.80m – good for the fourth-best mark in school history. Wilson also participated in the hammer throw where she reached 52.10m – her second-best effort of the season.
