Hurricanes Set for Florida Relays in Gainesville

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami track and field team will head up I-75 to take part in the 67th Pepsi Florida Relays this Friday and Saturday at Percey Beard Track at James G. Pressly Stadium.
Gates open at 9 a.m. each day for the meet’s 10 a.m. start on both Friday and Saturday. Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for children.
Takecia Jameson and Nicole Cummings each will be running in the fourth of seven 100m hurdle heats at 12:05 p.m., while Britney Clarke and Rachel Dupree will be competing in the fifth and seventh heats respectively.
Miranda Wilson and Ashley Holmes are scheduled to compete in both the discus and hammer throw at 2 and 6 p.m. respectively. Kyla Buckley will also participate in the hammer throw.
The 100m dash will get underway at 2:25 p.m. as senior Ashley Dukes will be joined by junior Charlene Fuller and freshman Alyssa McClure in the seven heat final.
The 400m hurdles will feature the season debut of Miami senior Ti’erra Brown – the five-time All-America selection and the U.S. champion in the event. The star will be joined by Jameson and Thandi Stewart in the event at 3:45 p.m.
Megan Novinger will look to improve on her 1.75m (5-08.75) season-best mark in the high jump at 5:30 p.m.
After a solid cross country campaign, freshman Lindsi Arrington is having a very productive track season, even claiming an individual title in the 1,500m run at the season-opening Hurricane Invitational. The Woodbridge, Va. native is set to compete in that same event at 6 p.m. in the second of three finals heats.
Also scheduled for 6 p.m. is the 5,000m run, which will feature two ‘Canes, senior Emma Steppe and Miami’s No. 1 cross country runner Brooke Dovell.
Freshman Nicole Cummings is set for the long jump that is scheduled for 6 p.m.
On the men’s side, the ACC 60m hurdle champion Devon Hill will open up with the 110m hurdles at 12:45 p.m. before competing in the 400m hurdles at 4:05 p.m.
Freshman Bassim El-Sabawi will run in the last of eight 100m dash heats at 2:40 p.m.
Juniors Brian Laskowski and Evan Hadrick will be in action at 3:20 p.m. in the 800m run.
Five Hurricanes will be racing in the 1,500m, including Greg Kaczka, Matthew Wilson, Luke Fontaine and Connor Adams – the men’s No. cross country runner, who will be making his collegiate track debut.
Senior Charles Michel will be the lone ‘Cane to run in the 5,000m at 6 p.m., the same time that Sean Pezzulo will be racing in the 3,000m steeplechase.
