`Canes Conclude Competition at UCF Invitational

ORLANDO – The University of Miami track and field team wrapped-up the second and final day of the UCF Invitational at the UCF Track and Field Complex on Saturday.

Ashley Dukes finished fourth in the 100m dash with a time of 11.83 seconds, while her teammate Charlene Fuller placed two spots behind at 11.85 seconds. Dukes also placed eighth in the 200m dash at 23.96 seconds.

Other Top 3 finishes included Kyla Buckley and Greg Kaczka. Buckley placed third in the shot put with a mark of 14.80m (48-06.75), while Kaczka also finished third in the 1,500m run at 3:56.64.

In Friday action, senior Charles Michel earned his first individual victory of the outdoor season with his 32:16.75 performance in the 10,000m run.

The Hurricanes’ Katharine Woodard also broke her own school record when she crossed the finish line in 11:34.81 – shaving more than 30 seconds off of her previous best time.

Other Top 5 performances on the day belonged to Jason Johnson in the long jump (4th – 6.73m, 22-01.00) and Sean Pezzulo in the men’s steeplechase (4th – 10:19.96).

Miami returns to action next weekend when it travels to Gainesville to compete in the Florida Relays April 1-2.
