Miami's Devon Hill Advances to NCAA Finals in 60m Hurdles

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – University of Miami junior Devon Hill advanced to the finals of the 60m hurdles at the 2011 NCAA Indoor National Championships with his preliminary performance Friday at Texas A&M’s Gilliam Indoor Track Stadium.

The Trenton, N.J. native automatically qualified for the finals after he won the first of three preliminary heats with a time of 7.75 seconds.

Hill will compete for a national championship in the event Saturday at 6:30 p.m. EST

Earlier this season, Hill won an ACC championship in the 60m hurdles, beating the field in Blacksburg, Va. in 7.76 seconds. His best time of the season broke his own school record at 7.71 seconds.

Tarika Williams raced in the prelim of the 200m dash, but did not reach a qualifying time, finishing in 24.09 seconds.
