`Canes Hold Sunday Practice Early on Greentree

Aug. 29, 2010

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – The University of Miami football team returned to the Greentree Practice Fields on Sunday after back-to-back days off on Friday and Saturday.

Four Days to Go
The long wait is almost over. Miami’s 2010 season is nearly upon us, with just four days remaining until the `Canes host Florida A&M on Thursday, Sept. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at Sun Life Stadium. UM is 7-1 all-time against FAMU, including a 48-16 victory over the Rattlers at home last season.

Anderson, Perry at Practice
Two recent additions to the UM football team were out at practice today. Defensive back Latwan Anderson and defensive lineman David Perry donned UM practice jerseys for the first time but were held out of contact drills. Anderson wore a No. 28 jersey while Perry was wearing No. 95.

O-Line Coming Together
With right tackle Joel Figueroa back and working with the first team, the offensive line performed well Sunday morning. In addition to working on both run and pass drills as a unit, the group stood out in team drills, creating several big holes through the right side to get the running backs to the next level.

`Canes On TV Tonight
Tune into Fox tonight to check out former `Canes Baraka Atkins and D.J. Williams as the Denver Broncos play host to the Pittsburgh Steelers in NFL preseason action at 8 p.m.

What’s Next?
The Hurricanes will return to practice Monday morning at 6:45 a.m. before Randy Shannon and select players are scheduled to meet with the media in the afternoon to discuss this week’s game against FAMU.
