CORAL GABLES –  The Hurricane offense came out on fire as the University of Miami women’s soccer  team took part in an intrasquad exhibition Friday night at Cobb Stadium.

Brittney Steinbruch, Kate Howarth and Ashlee Burt each scored a pair of goals and Brooke Van Aman added one of her own.

Players changed squads throughout as Tricia Taliaferro tinkered with the lineups to find the best combination. No matter what the ninth-year head coach did, the offense was rolling.

In all, the `Canes fired off 36 shots with 19 on goal and forced several corner kicks.

“Our ability to create so many scoring chances was exciting to see,” said Taliaferro. “The hard work the girls have put in this offseason showed here tonight. We have many offensive options that will help us throughout the season.”

Miami is only six days away from its season opener, as it faces the Florida Gators on Friday, Aug. 20 in Gainesville, Fla. at 7 p.m. The match will be televised on Sun Sports or can be followed via live stats at gatorzone.com

The `Canes home opener is Tuesday, Aug. 31 against Florida Gulf Coast at 7:30 p.m.
