Hurricanes to Hold Women's Basketball Banquet

CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will celebrate its historic season with a postseason banquet at Monty’s in Coconut Grove on Tuesday, April 20 at 7 p.m.

The event, which is open to the public for $25 a plate, will feature appetizers, an entrée and an awards ceremony for the student-athletes in different categories, including Most Valuable Player, Most Improved and Best Academic Performer.

The 2009-10 season culminated with an appearance in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament. It was the first time in school history that the Hurricanes advanced to a postseason tournament championship. The nine-win improvement from the previous year was the most since the 1991-92 season.
