Student-Athletes Participate in 2010 Fall Commencement Exercises
Dec. 16, 2010
Student-athletes representing seven Miami varsity sports participated in Fall commencement Thursday morning, Dec. 16, at the BankUnited Center.
Hurricane alum Gloria Estefan, a multiple Grammy Award-winning performing artist, humanitarian and best-selling author, addressed graduates, parents and guests Thursday morning.
Estefan, a member of Miami’s Board of Trustees, received an honorary doctorate of music from Miami in 1993.
Nineteen current or former student-athletes received degrees at the commencement ceremony. Seven football student-athletes walked across the stage to accept their diplomas. Four baseball players also earned degrees while three men’s tennis players concluded their undergraduate academic careers. A pair of volleyball players and a student-athlete each from women’s soccer, women’s tennis and women’s track and field were bestowed the honor.
