CAREER: Played in 29 games and started 14 in his career … Lettered four years (2007-2010) after redshirting in 2006 … Recorded 42 tackles (23 UA, 19 A), 9.5 tackles for loss, three sacks, three quarterback hurries and one fumble recovery in his career … Set career-highs for games (12), tackles (22) and tackles for loss (6.0) his junior year.
2010 (SENIOR): Was slowed by injury much of the season … Played in nine games and started five at defensive tackle … Earned the team’s URespect Award (Sportsmanship) at the 2010 postseason banquet … Started UM’s first four games before missing four of the next five with injury … Tallied 10 tackles (5 UA, 5 A) on the season … Recorded two tackles, 1.5 tackles for loss and one sack in season-opener against Florida A&M … Closed out his career with two tackles against both USF (Nov. 27) and Notre Dame (Dec. 31).
2009 (JUNIOR): Started nine of his 12 games played at the defensive tackle position … Ranked fourth among all UM defensive linemen with 22 total tackles (13 solo, nine assists) … Tied for fifth on the team with 6.0 tackles for a loss … Tallied career-highs for total tackles (5) and tackles for a loss (2.0) in win at Wake Forest … Recorded four total tackles (all solo) and a tackle for a loss in win over Duke … Recorded his lone sack of the year at North Carolina … Recovered a fumble in the season-opening win at Florida State and had a quarterback hurry in win over then-No. 8 Oklahoma … After tallying six tackles over the first six games, recorded 16 over the final sseven.
2008 (SOPHOMORE): Missed the first part of the season recovering from an injury but played in the last six games primarily as a pass rusher … Had seven tackles (four solo, three assisted) and 1.5 tackles for loss … Picked up first career sack at NC State.
2007 (REDSHIRT FRESHMAN): Saw the first action of his career in the defensive tackle rotation and played on 14 snaps against Duke, making three tackles (one solo tackle for a loss) and a QB pressure … Played reserve action at defensive tackle for seven plays at North Carolina.
2006 (REDSHIRT): Practiced on the scout team during his redshirt season.
HIGH SCHOOL: Had eight sacks as a senior in 2005 … Also played tight end on offense, scoring four touchdowns … Added two touchdowns on defense (44-yard fumble return and a blocked punt recovery) … As a junior in 2004, earned league Defensive Player of the Year honors with 13 sacks, 62 tackles, 24 tackles for loss, 14 hurries and four pass deflections … Also caught 17 passes for 380 yards and three touchdowns … As a sophomore in 2003, made 56 tackles, 17 for loss, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries … Began his freshman year on the JV team but moved up to the varsity by the end of the year … Rated the No. 15 defensive tackle by Rivals.com, No. 24 by ESPN and No. 21 by CollegeFootballnews.com … Member of the PrepStar 200 and ranked the No. 25 defensive lineman in the country … Coached by Mike Hastings.
