Berry Running With UM Greats, Nation's Elite
Oct. 28, 2010
CORAL GABLES, Fla — Senior running back Damien Berry joined elite company in Miami’s win at Duke two weeks ago, becoming just the fifth Hurricane since 1975 to rush for 100 yards in three straight games. This past weekend against UNC, he made it four straight with 109 yards on the ground against the Tar Heels.
Berry, who leads UM with 648 rushing yards this year, has recorded totals of 101 at Clemson, 101 against FSU, 111 at Duke and 109 against UNC in his last four games.
He is the only ACC player and one of only eight players nationally have run for four straight 100-yard games this season. Berry, Stepfan Taylor from Stanford, Kandall Hunter from Oklahoma State and Bilal Powell from Louisville are the only four running backs that have a current streak going.
The only four players to accomplish the feat at Miami since 1975 are Willis McGahee, Edgerrin James and Clinton Portis.
