Hurricanes Wrap-Up Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Miami men’s 4×100, women’s 4×400 and junior Ti’erra Brown all competed in the final day of the Penn Relays at The University of Pennsylvania’s Franklin Field on Saturday.

After qualifying for the 4×100 Championship of America on Friday with a preliminary time of 40.40 seconds, the quartet of Cory Nelms, DeMarcus Van Dyke, Travis Benjamin and Lamar Miller placed fifth on Saturday with their second-best effort of the season at 40.35 seconds.

In the College Women’s 4×400 College Final, Tameka Jameson, Ti’erra Brown and Takecia Jameson ran to a sixth place finish in a time of 3:40.53 seconds.

Brown also competed in the College Women’s 100m Hurdles Championships, where for the fourth time this season, the Hampton, Va. native broke the 13 second mark finishing fourth in 12.94 seconds.

The Penn Relays is the nation’s oldest and most prestigious track and field relay event. Beginning in 1922 with the renovation of Franklin Field, the Penn Relays has hosted high schools and college track and field programs as well as amateur and professional athletes. This year there were over 1,200 schools that attended in front of a three-day audience that was100,000 strong.

The Hurricanes next scheduled track meet will be in Atlanta, May14-15 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.
