CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Deandra Doyley captured both the long and triple jumps to lead the University of Miami track and field team at the University of Illinois’ Carle/Health Alliance Classic at UI Armory on Saturday.

In her senior season, Doyley has been impressive. A week after winning the long jump at the Kentucky Invitational, the Lauderdale Lakes native won both the long and triple jumps in Champaign. Doyley won the long jump with a mark of 5.88m (19-03.50) and the triple jump at 12.68m (41-07.25). Her mark in the triple jump was good enough for the NCAA provisional standard.

In her first attempt in the 60m hurdles this season, junior All-American Ti’erra Brown won with a time of 8.22 seconds – reaching provisional status with the fourth-best time in Miami history. Both Takecia Jameson and Doyley scored in the event with times of 8.63 and 8.78 seconds, respectively. Jameson also finished second in the 200m dash at 24.72 seconds. Tara Thomas scored in the 60m dash with a fourth place finish in the 60m dash at 7.58 seconds.

“I was pleased overall with the performances of the womens team,” said Director of Track and Field/Cross Country Amy Deem. “It is important that we continue to improve in each competition for us to meet our goals at the end of the season.”

In the untraditional 600m run, junior Tameka Jameson took the top prize in a time of 1:34.61.Sophomore Jennifer Estime ran to a sixth place finish at 1:38.09.

“Anytime an athlete has a personal best – like Ti’erra, Deandra and Miranda did in their respective events – you feel positive about the rest of the season,” Deem said.

For the men, Devon Hill placed second in the 60m hurdles with a time of 8.05 seconds, after he was the third-fastest time in the prelims at 8.14 seconds.
