CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Nineteen days after wrapping up its regular season with a 31-10 victory at USF, the 14th-ranked University of Miami football team is set to return to the practice field on Friday to begin preparation for the Champs Sports Bowl in Orlando. The Hurricanes, who will be in search of their first 10-win season since 2003, will face Wisconsin on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 8 p.m. on ESPN.
The `Canes will hold their first official practice Friday afternoon on the Greentree Practice Fields. The team is slated to practice four times before leaving for Orlando on Dec. 25. Once in Orlando, UM will hold three practices and take part in a number of events leading up to the game on Dec. 29.
Since closing out their season with the 21-point win over USF in Tampa on Nov. 28, the Hurricanes turned their attention to final exams, which wrapped up on Wednesday. On Thursday, five seniors – Jason Fox, Richard Gordon, Chavez Grant, Ryan Hill and Kris Kimball – received their degrees during commencement ceremonies at the BankUnited Center.
The Hurricanes have also spent the last few weeks in the gym and on the practice fields in voluntary conditioning sessions.
