Hurricanes Crack AP Top 10; Up to No. 13 in Coaches Poll
Sept. 20, 2009
Coral Gables, Fla. – –
After its second straight Atlantic Coast Conference win, Miami made a jump in the weekly polls as the Hurricanes cracked the top 10 with a No. 9 ranking in the Associated Press Poll released Sunday afternoon. Miami is No. 13 in the USA Today coaches’ poll which also was released Sunday.
Miami’s last ranking in the top 10 of either the AP or USA Today coaches’ poll came in the final regular season poll of 2005. UM was ranked No. 9 in both polls on Dec. 4, 2005.
The No. 13 ranking in the coaches’ poll is the highest ranking in that poll since Miami was ranked No. 11 in the 2006 preseason poll.
Miami hits the road for its third consecutive ACC game this week, when the Hurricanes head to Blacksburg, Va., to take on No. 11/12 Virginia Tech at Lane Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. (EST). The game will be televised on ABC regionally with a mirror broadcast on ESPN for other markets.
