Miami's Murielle Ahoure an All-American in the 60-Meters

COLLEGE STATION, Texas – The University of Miami `s Murielle Ahoure took fifth place in the 60-meter dash at the NCAA Indoor National Championships, claiming All-American status at Texas A&M’s McFerrin Athletic Center.
A day after winning the National Title in the 200-meter dash, Ahoure became a three-time All-American after crossing the finish line in 7.27 seconds in the 60-meter dash. With the fifth-place finish, Ahoure earned the 56th All-American designation in school history.
South Carolina’s LaKya Brookins won the National Title in the event, winning with a time of 7.13 seconds.
The senior joins only Miami legend Lauryn Williams as the only woman to earn All-American honors in the 60-meter dash. Williams was a three-time All-American in the event.
The Bristow, Va. native won both the 60 and 200-meter conference title at the ACC Indoor Championships, two weeks ago. She set the meet record with her qualifying run in the 200-meters, with a time of 23.16, only to break it again the next day in the finals at 23.14. For her efforts, Ahoure won the Atlantic Coast Conference Performer of the Year Award.
Earlier this week, Ahoure was named the USTFCCCA South Region Track Athlete of the Year for her efforts on the season.
In 2007, Ahoure was named an All-American for the first time after finishing in 12th-place in the 60-meter dash.
With 14 points, the Hurricanes tied for 12th in the overall standings. Tennessee took the team title with 42 points.
