CORAL GABLES – The University of Miami women’s basketball team will travel to Illinois to take on the SIU-Edwardsville Cougars at the Vadalabene Center, Wednesday at 8 p.m. EST.

Miami has lost two straight Atlantic Coast Conference games and will look to get back on track against a non-conference opponent in the form of SIU-Edwardsville.In their last game the Hurricanes didn’t open the game with their usual exuberance and it hurt them them, as they headed into the locker room with a17-point deficit. The intensity picked up in the second-period, but the deficit was too great to fully overcome.Freshman Shenise Johnson led the way with a career-high 22 points for the Hurricanes and fellow freshman Riquna Williams scored 15 as she continues to lead the team in scoring in ACC games. A Look at SIU EdwardsvilleSIU-Edwardsville enters Sunday afternoon’s game with an 5-18 record, with wins over Illinois-Springfield (89-47), Robert Morris (63-38), Eastern Kentucky (54-44), Wisconsin-Parkside (52-51) and Houston Baptist (78-64).The Cougars are led by Jenny West who is averaging 12.8 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Ashley Bey and Jessie Stapleton score 9.6 and 8.7 points per game respectively.SIU-Edwardsville is averaging 59.8 points and 36.4 rebounds per game as a team. It is shooting 34.6 percent (495-1429) from the floor, 26.6 percent (102-384) from beyond the arc and 65.4 (283-433) from the free throw line.
