Miami Set to Take On Conference Foe Georgia Tech

Miami has lost its first two ACC games this season, but could have just as easily been 2-0. The second half of each has hindered the Hurricanes. Against Clemson, the `Canes held a 13 point, second-half lead but fell 68-74 and against No. 5/10 Duke on Friday, they trailed only by two at the half, but were outscored by 13 after the break.

Sophomore point guard Epiphany Woodson tied a career-high 16 points in the loss to Duke and Latoya Drake scored in double-figures for the third time in four games with 11 points on 4-5 shooting.

Freshman Riquna Williams scored nine points in the Duke game, and a career-high 23 against Clemson. Another freshman, Shenise Johnson remains the team’s leading scorer (12.8) and rebounder (7.4

A Look at Georgia Tech
Georgia Tech enters Monday night’s game with a 12-3 record and was beaten on a last second layup in overtime against Boston College in their ACC opener.

The Yellow Jackets are led by Alex Montgomery who is averaging 13.5 points and 6.2 rebounds per game. Jacqua Williams and Iasia Hemingway score 13.5 and 11.5 points per game respectively.

Georgia Tech is averaging 69.5 points and 38.7 rebounds per game as a team. It is shooting 42.8 percent (371-867) from the floor, 32.9 percent (71-216) from beyond the arc and 70.2 (229-326) from the free throw line. The Yellow Jackets also register 13.9 steals and 3.1 blocked shots per outing, while holding their opponents to 53.7 points per game and a shooting percentage of 39.3 (303-771).

The Series
These two teams have faced each other three times in each of the last three seasons. Monday is the first of two regular season meetings and all-time these teams are knotted with seven wins apiece. In their last meeting, Georgia Tech defeated Miami 76-49, in the opening round of the 2008 ACC Tournament.
