Miami is coming off their first road win since January of last season and their first victory at FIU since 1998. LaToya had a a great night shooting the three ball as she hit a career-high five shots from behind the arc on her way to 16 points. She wasn’t alone in leading the Hurricanes as freshman Shenise Johnson scored 12 points and grabbed 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season.

Junior Charmaine Clark dished out a career-high seven assists in the 66-49 win. Miami begins a five-game homestand, beginning with Austin Peay in the opening round of the UM Thanksgiving Tournament.

A Look at Austin PeayAustin Peay leveled its record at 2-2 with a 49-48 victory against Belmont, Tuesday. Sophomore Ashley Herring’s end-to-end drive and layup with two seconds remaining provided the winning margin. A young squad this season, the Lady Govs have six freshmen and a sophomore transfer joining four returning sophomores, a junior and a senior to compose a 13-person roster.

Austin Peay has struggled with its shooting touch in the early going, failing to make 40 percent of its field goals in each of its first four games this season, extending its streak of such games to nine dating back to last season.

The SeriesFriday will mark the second time that these two teams have met. In the only previous meeting, Miami defeated the Lady Govs, 74-52 in Coral Gables back in 1982.

Special NoteThere has been a schedule change for Saturday’s lineup. Miami will play at approximately 5:45 p.m. no matter their result on Friday. This change is due to the Hurricane men’s basketball game tipping off against Stetson at 3:30 p.m. Tickets purchased for the women’s game will be honored with 10 minutes remaining in the men’s contest.
