With their second win over the Terrapins this week, the seventh-seeded Hurricanes improved to 14-6 overall – and 6-0 all-time versus Maryland, while the 10th-seeded Terps fell to 10-11 on the season. Miami rides a five-match win streak into Friday’s ACC Quarterfinals, where the Hurricanes will face second-seeded and 11th-ranked North Carolina at noon.

The Hurricanes lead the all-time series versus the Tar Heels, 19-10, and Friday’s meeting will mark the first between the programs this season, as their regular-season match on Mar. 23 in Coral Gables was rained out.

The Terrapins earned the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 positions to take the early 1-0 lead. But the Hurricanes quickly tied it up with a win by David Rosenfeld in the No. 3 singles position after Maryland’s Andrew Orban had to retire.

Keith Crowley used a straight-sets win over Boris Fetbroyt at the No. 5 spot to give Miami the 2-1 advantage, and third-ranked Daniel Vallverdu — who was named to the All-ACC Men’s Tennis Team for the program-best third-straight season this morning – knocked off No. 92 Amit Inbar, 6-3, 6-3, for his team-best 24th win of the season.

Vivek Subramanian clinched the win for the Hurricanes, with a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 2 over Maryland’s David Kwon.

“Coming into the match, we knew it was going to be tough,” said Rosenfeld. “But the team came out strong after losing the doubles point, and showed a lot of poise and determination.”
