Hurricane Invitational Highlighted by Regional Times

CORAL GABLES – The <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Miami women’s track team saw four individuals and a relay team reach regional qualifying times during the final day of competition at the Hurricane Invitational at Cobb Stadium.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
Three freshman swept the 400-meter hurdles for the Hurricanes as Ti’erra Brown (58.43), Takecia Jameson (58.45) and Tameka Jameson (59.65), with each reaching regional qualifying standards.
The 4×100-meter relay team comprised of freshman Charlene Fuller, sophomore transfer Nene Kamate, freshman Tara Thomas and sophomore Kristy Whyte qualified for regionals with a second place finish with a time of 45.23. Whyte also qualified in the 200-meters with a second place run of 23.95, setting a new personal-best.
Sophomore Deandra Doyley won the long jump with a distance of 5.94m while taking second in the triple jump with a mark of 12.28m.
Next week Miami will host the Hurricane Challenge on Saturday March 29 at Cobb Stadium.
