CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Head men’s basketball coach Frank Haith announces the signing of 6-6 forward DeQuan Jones (Marietta, Ga.) and 6-9 center Reginald Johnson (Winston-Salem, N.C.) to National Letters of Intent to attend the University of Miami in the fall.

Jones, ranked eighth among small forwards by ESPN, helped lead Wheeler High School to a 22-7 record and a berth in the state tournament as junior in 2006-07. He averaged 10.6 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.4 blocks per game. Jones is also ranked 11th among small forwards in the nation by Rivals.com and is rated 50th among all Class of 2008 prospects by ESPN.

“DeQuan is a great athlete with a tremendous upside,” said Coach Haith. “He will be an impact player from day one.”

Johnson, ranked 38th among centers by Scout.com, averaged 22.7 points, 16.0 rebounds and 6.0 blocks per game as junior at Winston-Salem Prep, helping the team to a 22-7 record.

“Reginald also has a tremendous upside,” said Haith. “At 6-9, 285, he brings size to our squad and has a 7-2 wingspan. For a big kid, he has great hands, good agility and good foot speed.”
