Faluade Earns Berth into Triple Jump Finals

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – University of Miami senior Brenda Faluade turned in one of the twelfth-best marks of the day in the preliminaries of the triple jump on Friday to advance into Saturday’s finals at the 2007 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
Faluade, who will compete in Saturday’s finals schedule for 1 p.m. (EST), tied for the 11th-best mark of the day with a jump of 42-10.75 feet (13.07m) during the qualifying round.
Also competing Friday was senior Ginou Etienne who finished with a time of 52.64 seconds in the 400-meter semifinals. Etienne’s time was the ninth-fastest in the two heats and three hundredth’s of a second behind being a top-eight finish which would have advanced her into Saturday’s finals.
Saturday’s action will be carried live from 1-3 p.m. (EST) on CBS.
