Looking to snap a three-game slide, the Hurricanes play host to Virginia Tech Tuesday with an overall record of 9-11 and 2-4 mark in ACC play following an 86-67 loss at Florida State Saturday.
Miami continues to be one of the better three-point shooting teams in the ACC, hitting an average of 6.3 three-pointers per game which ranks among the top half of the league.
A large portion of UM’s three-point success has come from sophomore guard Jack McClinton who ranks first in the league in three-point field goal percentage (.447) and second in the ACC in three-pointers made per game (2.68). McClinton also leads the Hurricanes in scoring (16.0).
Sophomore forward Brian Asbury ranks second on the team in scoring (12.2) and is with freshman center Dwayne Collins for the team lead in rebounding with 5.8 boards per game.
Collins, who averages 8.5 points on the year, has been Miami’s most consistent player of late, averaging 12.6 points and 7.0 rebounds over the last five games.
The Hokies head to Coral Gables with an overall record of 14-5 and are 4-1 in league play following a 67-64 overtime victory over Maryland Sunday evening in Blacksburg.
Senior guard Zabian Dowdell leads the Hokies and ranks sixth in the ACC in scoring (17.4) while senior guard Jamon Gordon tops the conference in steals (2.68).
