Hurricanes Scrimmage, Make Progress
Aug. 26, 2006
Coral Gables – The University of Miami followed a physical Friday night scrimmage at the Orange Bowl with a lighter situational workout at the Greentree Practice Fields on Saturday morning.
“We had a pretty tough scrimmage last night,” head coach Larry Coker said. “We didn’t hold back much. It wasn’t long, but we got a lot of kicking situations done last night. There was a lot of physical play and we came out of it with no injuries. Today was more non-contact, situational.”
It’s been nearly three weeks since Miami opened preseason camp and there has been a noticeable improvement on both sides of the ball, Coker said.
“The efficiency of our offense has really encouraged me,” Coker said. “Obviously we’re still playing awfully well on defense. We’re fast and we’re running well.”
Miami will conduct a closed practice Sunday night at the Orange Bowl heading into the Florida State week.
