Hurricanes Go Through Second Day of Spring Practice

March 22, 2006

Coral Gables – The Hurricanes went through a two-hour session today on the Greentree Practice Fields, on their second day of the spring practice.

“There was a lot of teaching going on today, and a lot of effort,” said head coach Larry Coker. “Friday we will put pads on and the players will learn a little more each day. I was really impressed offensively today. We worked on timing, and there was improvement.”

With last year’s starting tailback Tyrone Moss still rehabilitating from a knee injury, Coker said commented on two other players at the position. “Charlie Jones and Andrew Johnson have really stepped it up, and I see a lot of energy effort out of our offensive linemen, too. There’s a lot of confidence and energy on the offensive line.”

Coker also commented on cornerback Glenn Sharpe, who has missed the last two years with knee injuries. “He looks great. He really a good football player,” said Coker. “He looks outstanding on special teams and at corner. We need to get him back. There’s no sign of (the injury), but we’ve been only two days in shorts.”

The Hurricanes will take Thursday off, then return to the practice field at 3:20 p.m. Friday. Hurricane season tickets are now on sale and can be purchased at www.hurricanesports.com or by calling 1-800-GO-CANES.
