Hurricanes Finish Bowl Practice in Coral Gables
Dec. 21, 2006
Coral Gables – The Miami Hurricanes practiced on campus for the final time in the 2006 calendar year, which was also Larry Coker’s last as a head coach on the Greentree Practice Fields. Players will have the next few days free to spend the holiday season with family and friends before heading to Boise for the MPC Computers Bowl, to be played in Boise, Idaho on December 31.
“We did pretty good today. This was pretty much a Thursday-type workout for us, and I really like what I saw,” Coker said. “We just have to make sure to take care of ourselves over the time off and we’ll have some good practice time (in Boise).”
Even though today’s practice was his last in Coral Gables, Coker said, “(There were) no sentimental feelings at all. I just look forward to going out, having a safe trip, and playing well in Boise.”
The six days of practice in Coral Gables was ample time for the gameplan to be installed for the matchup with 8-4 Nevada. “We tried to get in as much work as we could get done here, and we will kind of fine tune once we get out there,” Coker said. “These guys will be ready to play.”
Coker talked about the attitude of his players. “The attitude has been good here, even through the tough times we’ve had all year. It hasn’t been about a bad attitude around here. We lost some games, (then) we recovered. We played pretty well for the most part giving ourselves a chance to win. We haven’t won when we’ve had an opportunity at times, but the attitude has been pretty good.”
The entire team and staff will be in Boise on December 27.
