Miami Edged on the Road at Northwestern in ACC-Big Ten Challenge

EVANSTON, Ill. (AP) – Craig Moore scored a career-high 24 points and Northwestern survived a late surge to beat Miami 61-59 Tuesday night in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.
Miami’s Jack McClinton tied a career high with 30 points Tuesday night.
Leading 50-47 with 5:56 left, Northwestern (4-2) scored seven straight points. Kevin Coble finished a back-door pass with a layup and Moore hit his seventh 3-pointer of the game. Then Tim Doyle made two free throws to give Northwestern a 57-47 lead with 3:42 left.
McClinton quickly brought Miami (4-3) back. He scored six consecutive points and then after Doyle hit a free throw for Northwestern, McClinton hit a “3” to cut the Wildcats lead to 58-56 with 1:05 left.
Miami’s Brian Asbury sank another 3-pointer to get the Hurricanes within 60-59 with 15.3 left. Miami put Jason Okrzesik on the line who made 1-of-2 free throws to make it 61-59. McClinton then missed a chance to take the lead in the final seconds by missing a long 3-pointer.
The Wildcats led 30-27 at the half behind Moore’s 14 points. McClinton led the Hurricanes with 13 points in the half.
