Hurricanes Slip Past Purple Aces At America's Youth Classic, 74-69

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) -Jack McClinton scored 17 points on 5-of-11 shooting to lead Miami to a 74-69 victory over Evansville Friday night in the America’s Youth Classic opener.
McClinton hit three 3-pointers and shot 4-of-6 from the free throw line for the Hurricanes (3-0). Anthony King grabbed 15 rebounds and James Dews had four steals in 14 minutes for Miami.
Matt Webster scored a game-high 26 points and shot 10-of-18 from the floor to lead the Purple Aces (0-2). Evansville’s Jason Hoslinger added 12 points and seven assists.
McClinton’s 3-pointer with 6:27 left to play gave Miami its first lead of the game.
The Aces trailed 70-69 with 1:19 remaining, but the Hurricanes put the game out of reach with a jumper from Anthony Harris and four free throws.
Miami outrebounded Evansville 45-29 and scored 26 second-chance points.
