UM Hosts Wisconsin-Milwaukee Monday on Youth Day at the BankUnited Center

The <?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>University of Miami women’s basketball team will play host to Wisconsin-Milwaukee Monday at 12 noon at the BankUnitedCenter. As part of Youth Day at the BankUnited Center, an event in which local elementary and middle schools will be invited out for free admission and a free lunch to Monday’s game, the first 1,000 fans will also receive free lunch on behalf of the UM.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

Head coach Katie Meier and the Hurricanes look to build upon a 68-60 win over GeorgiaState Friday night in the 2006-07 season-opener as they take on Wisconsin-Milwaukee Monday at 12 noon.
Senior guard Renee Taylor, one of four UM starters to score double figures, led the Hurricanes with 18 points against GSU.
Junior guard Albrey Grimsley followed Taylor with 15 points, her highest scoring outing since back-to-back 15-point games in mid January of her freshman year. Grimsley had arguably the one of the best complete games of any Hurricane against GSU, adding seven rebounds with four assists and no turnovers in the victory.
A Look Wisconsin-Milwaukee
Head coach Sandy Botham and the Panthers head to Coral Gables following an 85-59 loss at South Florida Friday night.
The Panthers bring back 11 letterwinners from a 2005-06 team that posted the best record in school history (22-9) while claiming the Horizon League regular season and tournament titles.
Sophomore center Traci Edwards enters Monday’s contest as UWM’s leading scorer after registering a team-high 20 in the loss to USF.
The Series
This will be the first meeting between the Miami and Wisconsin-Milwaukee women’s basketball programs.

The first 1,000 fans in attendance will receive a complimentary lunch on behalf of the University of Miami.
All UM employees and students will receive complimentary lunch and admission to Monday’s game with a valid Cane Card.
Player Trading Cards
Miami Hurricane women’s basketball fans will have the opportunity to collect player trading cards during all home games. The first 200 fans in attendance at each game will receive the cards which will feature a different player each game during the 2006-07 season.
