Hurricanes Win Five Matches in Singles at Gator Fall Classic

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – The University of Miami women’s tennis team picked up five victories in singles matches for the second day of action at the Gator Fall Classic in the University of Florida’s Ring Tennis Complex Saturday morning.
The Hurricanes dominated in singles matches five out of six over Duke University. The No.1 ranked Audra Cohen defeated 6th ranked Daniela Bercek 6-1, 6-0.
Freshman Laura Vallverdu defeated Melissa Mang (55) 6-3, 7-5, while Romy Farah defeated Kristin Cargil 6-3, 6-2. Caren Seenauth defeated Jessi Robinson 6-4, 6-1, while Gina Sabatino claimed victory over Cleia Deltour 6-4, 6-0.
In the doubles competition against USF, Audrey Banada and Junior Romy Farah defeated Jessica Sweeting and Courtney Vernon 8-0. Gina Sabatino paired up with Caren Seenauth to defeat Liz Cruz and Iciri Rai 9-8 (7-3).
The Gator Fall Classic will conclude Sunday morning with Miami facing Duke in doubles beginning at 8:00 a.m. Immediately following doubles, the Hurricanes will take on Florida in singles.
