Miami Relay Earns All-America Honors

Sacramento, Calif. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami women’s 4×100-meter relay earned All-America honors for the fourth consecutive season finishing seventh Friday at the NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Sacramento, Calif.
The relay of junior Amy Seward (Virginia Beach, Va.), freshman Krista Simkins (Ambler, Pa.), senior Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) and senior India Ransom (Largo, Md.) posted a time of 44.31 seconds.
Darden came back two hours later to run in the semifinals of the 400-hurdles. The 13-time All-American finished third in the heat with a time of 55.87 to advance to the final for the third consecutive year. She finished sixth in the event last season.
In the preliminaries of the women’s triple jump Miami’s All-American duo of Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ontario) and Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas) both advanced to Saturday’s final.
Charles, who earned All-America honors with an eighth-place finish in the long jump on Thursday, is ranked No. 1 in the nation in the event. Her qualifying mark of 13.27 meters (43-06.50) was the best of the preliminary round.
Faluade, ranked second in the nation, posted a mark of 12.81 meters (42-00.50) to qualify 11th.
All-American Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern) did not compete in the semifinal of the 200-meters due to a stomach virus.
