NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship Begins Tomorrow

(hurricanesports.com) – The No. 8 University of Miami women’s track and field team will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships March 10-11, held at the Tyson Indoor Track Complex in Fayetteville, Ark.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>
The Hurricanes are coming off an ACC championship in which ACC Indoor Coach of the Year Amy Deem led the team to a 21 point margin over runner up North Carolina. The 4×400 meter relay team broke the conference record in that mean and Tabia Charles won the triple jump to lead the Hurricanes.
Charles will be competing at the NCAA Indoor Championships in the triple jump and the long jump. She will be joined by team Brenda Faluade in both events. The long jump will begin at 4:00 pm on Friday and the triple jump will be held at 4:10 pm on Saturday.
Dominique Darden and Ginou Etienne will both run the 400-meter dash. The preliminaries for that event are on Friday at 5:50 pm and the finals will be held on Saturday at 7:05 pm.
Charlette Greggs will run the 200 meter dash. The preliminaries and finals will both be on Friday with start times at 7:35 pm and 9:05 respectively.
The 4×400 relay team will run in the final event of the meet on Saturday at 8:20 pm.
The Hurricanes placed third in last year’s meet, the highest ever finish for the program scoring 32 points, 12 behind champion Tennessee.
