No. 8 Hurricanes to Compete at NCAA Indoor Championships

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship start lists have been published. Five individual competitors and the 4×400 relay team are slated to compete for the No. 8 University of Miami.<?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

 

The Hurricanes are led by jumpers Tabia Charles (Pickering, Ont.) and Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas).  Charles automatically qualified in both the long and triple jump and she is seeded second in both.  Charles is coming off a victory in the triple jump at the ACC Indoor Championships and a second place finish in the long jump where she broke the school record.

 

Faluade qualified in the long and triple jump as well.  She is seeded seventh in the triple jump and 18th in the.  Faluade finished third in the triple jump at the ACC Indoor championships to earn all-ACC honors. 

 

The other individual competitors for the Hurricanes are sprinters Charlette Greggs (Miami, Fla., Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) and Ginou Etienne (Miami, Fla.).

Greggs is seeded 10th in the 200 meter dash.  Both Darden and Etienne are running in the 400 meter dash, and are seeded seventh and 12th respectively.

 

The 4×400 meter relay team is seeded sixth, after running a 3:33.47 at the Tyson Invitational on the same track that the championship are run on.

 

The NCAA Championships are on March 10-11 in Fayetteville, Ark. at the TysonIndoorTrackCenter.
