Deem Named ACC Indoor Coach of the Year

March 2, 2006

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami head women’s track and field coach Amy Deem has been named the 2006 ACC Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year.

Deem earns the honor for the second consecutive season after leading the Hurricanes to the 2006 ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship, the school’s second indoor title in as many seasons.

Deem joins North Carolina’s Dennis Craddock as the only coaches in ACC history to win the award in back-to-back seasons.

With this season’s victory, Miami becomes just the second school in ACC history to win multiple ACC Indoor titles. The Hurricanes registered 11 top-3 finishes in the 15 individual events including victories in the triple jump and the 4×400-meter relay.

Miami has now won eight consecutive conference championships including the 2002 BIG EAST Outdoor title, the 2003 and 2004 BIG EAST Indoor and Outdoor titles, and last season’s ACC Indoor and Outdoor Championships.
