Women's Track and Field to Compete at ACC Indoor Championships

<?xml:namespace prefix=”st1″ ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags”?>Coral Gables, Fla. – The 16th ranked University of Miami women’s track and field team is traveling to Blacksburg, Va. to compete at the ACC Indoor Championships in the Rector Field House February 23-25.  <?xml:namespace prefix=”o” ns=”urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office”?>

 

The Hurricanes seek their second consecutive ACC Indoor Championship, and eighth consecutive conference championship, but face strong competition from the University of North Carolina, who is ranked ahead of them in both polls.

 

Junior Tabia Charles leads the Hurricanes having posted a NCAA automatic qualifying mark in the triple jump and a NCAA provisional mark in the long jump.  She leads the ACC in both events. 

 

Other NCAA provisional qualifiers include ACC-leading Ginou Etienne in the 400 meters, Dominique Darden (200m/60HH), Charlette Greggs (200m), ACC-leading Pavi’Elle James (55HH), Brenda Faluade (LJ) and Amy Seward (LJ/Pent).  The 4×400 Relay team also posted an NCAA automatic mark and is ranked first in the conference.

 

Events start on Thursday afternoon, with the Pentathlon, and end Saturday afternoon with the 4×400 relay.  A complete schedule of events is posted below.  Updates will be available on hurricanesports.com throughout the weekend.
