Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – Junior center Anthony King (Durham, N.C.) recorded 19 points, nine rebounds and five blocked shots to lead the University of Miami men’s basketball team to a 92-79 exhibition game victory over Nova Southeastern University at the Convocation Center.

King, who averaged 6.3 points per game last season, scored seven of the Hurricanes first 11 points and was already in double-figures by the 14:22 mark of the first half. King, a 2004-05 ACC All-Defensive team selection, was very aggressive on the offensive end and showed a variety of moves en route to 13 first half points.

Miami put the game away midway through the first half using an 18-2 run to take a 42-20 with 6:06 to go before halftime. Freshman Brian Asbury (South Miami) keyed the run scoring eight of his 11 points during the stretch.

Also scoring in double-figures for Miami was junior Guillermo Diaz (14 points), senior Robert Hite (14 points) and sophomore Raymond Hicks (14 points). Nova Southeastern was led by sophomore point guard Oresti Nitsios who scored a game-high 21 points.

Miami opens the regular-season next weekend at the BCA Classic, November 13-15, in Seattle, Wash. The Hurricanes will face Texas-Arlington in the opening round.
