Williams Anchors United States Relay To Prelim Win

Helsinki, Finland (hurricanesports.com) – Former University of Miami sprinter Lauryn Williams anchored the United States’ 4×100-meter relay to a World leading time of 42.16 seconds in winning its preliminary heat at the 2005 IAAF World Championships in Helsinki, Finland.
The USA relay of Angela Daigle, Muna Lee, Me’Lisa Barber and Williams dominated its heat finishing 1.37 seconds ahead of second-place Nigeria (43.53), and establishing itself as the gold medal favorite.
Williams, a nine-time All-American and 2004 NCAA 100-meter champion while at the University of Miami, captured the World Championship in the 100-meters earlier this week.
The former Hurricane will go for her second gold medal of the World Championships on Saturday in the final of the 4×100-meter relay.
