'Canes Team Up with Broward Sheriff's Office

Coral Gables, Fla. (www. hurricanesports.com) – – Several members of the Miami Hurricanes football team will be teaming up this summer with the Broward County Sheriff’s Office for the annual “Canes on Patrol” program.
The 2005 summer marks the ninth straight year the University of Miami football team and the BSO office teamed up to help promote law enforcement and good citizenship.
This Friday, July 15th and Saturday, July 16th a group of players including Baraka Atkins, Rashad Butler, and Roger McIntosh will join a “ride along” with the Sheriff’s office and help assist in the day-to-day duties. The group of players will first meet at the Deerfield Beach substation at 6 p.m. for the nightly briefing and then do the ride along from 7 p.m. to midnight. The ride along program with the Broward Sheriff’s Office kicks off this weekend and will continue through July 30th.
