Barrett Named ACC Co-Performer Of The Week

Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – University of Miami senior Kim Barrett (Miami Gulliver Prep) was named the Atlantic Coast Conference Outdoor Track and Field Co-Performer of the Week on Monday marking the second time this outdoor season she has won the award. Barrett also won the award once during the indoor season.

Barrett, who shares the award this week with Georgia Tech’s Chaunte Howard, won the shot put, and was the top collegiate finisher in the hammer throw, setting school-records in both events at the Miami Gatorade Invitational on April 16.

Barrett recorded an NCAA leading mark of 18.19 meters (59-08.25) in the shot, which also ranks as the seventh best mark in the world this year. She also set a new school-record in the hammer throw recording a mark of 58.85 meters (193-01.00).

The seventh-ranked Hurricanes travel to the ACC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, April 21-23, in Tallahassee, Fla.
