Darden Advances To 100-Hurdle Final

Austin, Texas (hurricanesports.com) – Junior All-American Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.) advanced to Saturday’s final of the 100-meter hurdles, and both the 4×100-meter relay and 4×400-meter relay also advanced to highlight Friday’s action at the 78th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin, Texas.
Darden, a six-time All-American, won her qualifying heat with an NCAA regional qualifying time of 13.61 seconds. She has now advanced to the finals of both hurdle events. On Thursday evening Darden qualified for the final of the 400-meter hurdles winning her opening round heat with an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 58.59 seconds.
Both Miami relays also advanced to Saturday’s finals. The 4×100-meter relay won its preliminary heat with an NCAA regional qualifying time of 44.50 seconds. The time was the third fastest of the qualifying round.
The 4×400-meter relay moved into Saturday’s final by placing second in its preliminary heat in a time of 3:35.64. Miami’s time is a NCAA regional qualifier.
In the long jump, sophomore All-American Brenda Faluade (Katy, Texas) placed third with a leap of 6.30 meters (20-08.00). The jump is personal-best for Faluade as well as a UM season-best and a NCAA regional qualifier.
Sophomore Amy Seward (Virginia Beach, Va.) finished seventh in the long jump with an NCAA regional qualifying mark of 6.00 meters (19-08.25).
