Feb. 11, 2005

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – The University of Miami women’s 4×400-meter relay of sophomore Ginou Etienne (Miami Central), junior Dominique Darden (Harrisburg, Pa.), senior Wiande Moore (Spring, Texas) and junior Charlette Greggs (Miami Northwestern) won the Tyson Invitational in a time of 3:32.59 setting a new UM recorded and posting the fastest time in the nation this season.

The Miami relay, which entered the meet ranked third in the nation, defeated a strong field which included perennial powers South Carolina, Texas, Auburn, Arkansas and Stanford.

The Hurricane’s time automatically qualifies them for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships to be held on the same track, March 11-12, in Fayetteville, Ark.

The fourth-ranked women’s track and field team will conclude competition at the Tyson Invitational on Saturday before heading to the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships next weekend in Chapel Hill, N.C.
