CORAL GABLES, Fla. (AP) – Andre Barrett scored 23 points to help Seton Hallbeat Miami 76-66 Tuesday night, handing the Hurricanes their 10th consecutiveloss.

Kelly Whitney added 20 points, seven rebounds and three blocked shots forthe Pirates. The Hurricanes couldn’t find an answer for the inside-outsidecombination of Whitney (center) and Barrett (guard).

Seton Hall (18-7, 8-5 in Big East) trailed 11-5 early, but used a 14-5 runto take the lead for good on Barrett’s 3-pointer midway through the first half.

Barrett hit his first eight shots, including three 3-pointers, and Whitneyscored 18 points on dunks and lay-ups.

Miami (13-15, 3-11) pulled to within 66-61 on a pair of Darius Rice freethrows with 3:20 to play, but Rice missed a long 3-pointer about a minutelater. Barrett then sank two free throws to make it 68-61 with 1:13 remaining.

Rice, who missed the previous two games with a sprained right foot, led theHurricanes with 19 points.

The home team received a smattering of boos when embattled coach Perry Clarkcalled timeout with his team trailing 45-33 with about 15 minutes to play. Muchof the crowd filed out of the Convocation Center when Miami trailed 68-61 withless than a minute remaining.

The Hurricanes have two games remaining and might need to win both to makethe Big East Tournament, which begins March 10.
