• Brock Berlin’s sixth completion of today’s game, an 18-yard touchdown pass to Sinorice Moss in the first quarter, moved him into 9th place on Miami’s career list for completions, passing George Mira, who had 368 from 1961-63.

• Miami’s 21-first quarter points were the most since the Hurricanes scored 21 against Boston College on Oct. 31, 1998.

• The last time a Miami team scored more than 21 points in the first quarter was Oct. 22, 1988, against Cincinnati. The Hurricanes scored 24 first-quarter points on their way to a 57-3 win over the Bearcats.

• Greg Threat’s first-quarter fumble was Miami’s 12 fumble recovery of the season and its 23 takeaway of the year against only nine turnovers (five fumbles, four interceptions).

• Rashaun Jones recovered Sinorice Moss’ block of Ryan Plackemeir’s punt in the endzone for Miami’s eighth non-offensive touchdown of the season. It was the Hurricanes’ second blocked punt of the season. Anthony Reddick blocked a punt against Houston and Tavares Gooden recovered it in the endzone.

• The blocked punt for a touchdown marks Miami’s sixth punt return for a touchdown this season. The six punt returns is one shy of the NCAA record of seven set by Southern Mississippi in 1987.
