WAKE FOREST POSTGAME NOTES:
Brock Berlin finished with a career-high 361 yards and four touchdowns. It is the fifth 300-yard passing game of his career and third of the season. Berlin completed 13-of-19 passes without an interception. Berlin has not thrown an interception since the first quarter of the North Carolina State game, a span of 153 pass attempts.
Miami set a season high for total yards with 579. UM passed for 424 yards and rushed for 155 yards. The Hurricanes previous best this year was 431 yards against Louisville. The 579 yards of total offense marked the first time the Hurricanes have eclipsed the 500-yard mark in total offense since racking up 601 yards against Temple last season.
Roscoe Parrish recorded his eighth touchdown reception of the season in the Hurricanes’ opening drive moving him into a tie for 10th-place on UM’s all-time single-season list for touchdown receptions. He is tied with Andre Brown (1988), Santana Moss (1998) and Kellen Winslow (2002).
Frank Gore moved into 10th place on Miami’s all-time rushing list on his first carry of the game – a 13-yard scamper to the left side. Gore now has 1,849 yards in his career, passing Eddie Dunn’s 1,778 yards accumulated from 1936-38.
Frank Gore’s first quarter one-yard touchdown plunge moved him into a tie for 10th place on Miami’s all-time list with 17 rushing touchdowns for his career, tying Ottis Anderson (1975-78) and James Stewart (1993-94).
Brock Berlin’s sixth completion of today’s game, an 18-yard touchdown pass to Sinorice Moss in the first quarter, moved him into 9th place on Miami’s career list for completions, passing George Mira, who had 368 from 1961-63.
Brock Berlin moved into ninth place on Miami’s all-time pass charts with a career-high 361 yards, giving him 4,789 yards for his career.
Brock Berlin’s four touchdown passes moved him into a tie for 8th place on Miami’s single-season touchdowns list with 21.
Brock Berlin’s four touchdown passes, today, move him into a tie for 8th place on Miami’s career list for touchdown passes. He is now tied with Jim Kelly, who had 33 from 1979-82.
Miami’s 21-first quarter points were the most since the Hurricanes scored 21 against Boston College on Oct. 31, 1998.
The last time a Miami team scored more than 21 points in the first quarter was Oct. 22, 1988, against Cincinnati. The Hurricanes scored 24 first-quarter points on their way to a 57-3 win over the Bearcats.
Greg Threat’s first-quarter fumble was Miami’s 12 fumble recovery of the season and its 23 takeaway of the year against only nine turnovers (five fumbles, four interceptions).
Rashaun Jones recovered Sinorice Moss’ block of Ryan Plackemeir’s punt in the endzone for Miami’s eighth non-offensive touchdown of the season. It was the Hurricanes’ second blocked punt of the season. Anthony Reddick blocked a punt against Houston and Tavares Gooden recovered it in the endzone.
The blocked punt for a touchdown marks Miami’s sixth punt return for a touchdown this season. The six punt returns is one shy of the NCAA record of seven set by Southern Mississippi in 1987.
Roscoe Parrish recorded the first 100-yard receiving game of his career with 141 yards against the Demon Deacons.
