Miami vs. Virginia Postgame Notes
Brock Berlin moved into 10th place on Miami’s career list for passing yards, moving ahead of Frank Costa, who had 4,256 yards from 1991-94. Berlin entered today’s game with 4,251 yards and now has 4,428 in his two years with Miami.
Frank Gore had a career high for rushing attempts and yards. He finished with 195 yards on 28 carries, breaking his previous high of 153 yards vs. Syracuse in 2001 and 24 carries vs. both Temple and Syracuse in 2001. It was his second straight 100-yard game and the eighth of his career.
In the first quarter, Frank Gore had 11 carries for 82 yards and one touchdown. In the second quarter, he had 5 carries for 50 yards. In the third quarter he had 5 carries for 45 yards. In the fourth quarter, he had 7 carries for 19 yards.
Talib Humphrey’s touchdown came on the first time he has ever touched the ball in his career (no rushes or receptions prior). In the game, he had three receptions for 49 yards.
Roscoe Parrish’s 62-yard punt return for a touchdown was the second of his career. He had a 92-yarder last year against Boston College. Parrish also had a 45-yard punt return today.
Miami has won its last 21 games when rushing for 200 or more yards. The Hurricanes finished with 207 yards rushing in today’s game.
Brock Berlin threw two touchdown passes, moving into ninth place on Miami’s career list for TD passes, moving ahead of George Mira, who had 28 from 1961-63. Berlin now had 29 TD passes, 17 of them this season.
Brandon Meriweather’s interception was his second of the season and the team’s 10th of the year.
