Coral Gables, Fla. (hurricanesports.com) – The University of Miami men’s and women’s basketball programs will tip-off their inaugural seasons in the Atlantic Coast Conference with Hurricane Hoops Weekend featuring an autograph session at the Orange Bowl on October 14 and Hurricane Hoops Day at the UM Convocation Center on Saturday, October 16.

The Hurricanes will begin the weekend on Thursday, October 14 when new head men’s basketball coach Frank Haith, head women’s coach Ferne Labati and members of the men’s and women’s basketball teams will be on hand to meet with fans and sign autographs during halftime of UM’s home football game against Louisville.

Hurricane Hoops Day follows Saturday afternoon starting at 4 p.m. The event is free to the public and will give Hurricane fans the opportunity to meet the Miami men’s and women’s basketball teams, choose their seats for the upcoming season, and get autographs from their favorite Hurricane coaches and players.

The men’s basketball team opens its 16-game home schedule on November 20 and will play a total of 14 games against teams that reached postseason play last season, including visits from perennial power Duke, 2004 NCAA Tournament runner-up Georgia Tech, 2002 NCAA Champion Maryland, two-time NCAA Champion North Carolina State, national power Wake Forest and intra-state rival Florida State.

Season ticket packages are available for as low as $175 and fans purchasing two or more season tickets before October 22 will receive an ACC Football Pack, an $80 value, absolutely free. The ACC football pack features Miami’s final three home games against ACC rivals Clemson, Wake Forest and Virginia Tech.

A minimum of two (2) men’s basketball season ticket packages must be purchased to qualify, and one ACC football pack will be awarded for each season ticket purchased.

The women’s basketball team returns eight letterwinners from last season’s 22-7 squad that reached the NCAA Tournament for the second consecutive season. The Hurricanes open their 16-game home schedule on November 19 when they host the Miami Jam Basketball Tournament at the Convocation Center.

The women’s schedule also features eight teams that advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2003-04, including defending ACC Champion Duke. Season tickets for women’s basketball start as low as $75.
